ELF AVERT –IN THE ARTICLE “ ATIM’S TOP 60 MASTERS 2018” MAGAZINE, PAGE 121. NEW YORK. (USA).
“Diving us into her world of color, Cristina Maya Caetano creates elaborate, complex works that focus on the visual power of color and the multitude of interwoven patterns on the canvas. The colors that she uses is a balance between warmer and cooler tones, an element that promotes harmony on the canvas. She chooses to group the differing tones in pairs, creating flow between them. It is an element enhanced by the floral and slightly abstract patterns of the works, something evident in paintings like “Roses Of The Soul For You” and “The Other Light”. The final visual outcome of the pieces has a diverse conceptual background rooted in the complexity of the forms and patterns that Caetano introduces in her work. Her pieces refer to spirituality, joy, and tranquility above all else, avoiding stressful or grim concepts. Broad lines and a playful characterization of her subjects create a blended scope of imagery and storytelling.”

DEBORAH MAGGIOLO – ART CURATOR. M.A.D. GALLERY. (MILAN, ITALY).

“Disclosing itself as an atypical kind of mandala or arabesque pattern, this artwork wants to a convey a very simple yet important message. Using art as the privileged medium to directly reach the heart of her interlocutors, the artists incites them to be free, resorting to some peculiar symbols such as a horse and a butterfly which are commonly associated with the idea of freedom. The elements of the composition, gracefully blending with the winding background, tends to conceal themselves to a negligent eye. Among them, in the centre of the canvas we identify a violin key, expressly referring to the musical universe and conveying the artwork an even greater sense of movement and global harmony. As music flows freely in the ether, disseminating in space and time, we are invited to let our real essence be transmitted in the same way, projecting our  interiority in our actions and behaviours  without any fear. We must let shine our true colours, as recalled by the lyres of famous song by Cindy Lauper. We must set free our true soul, being ourselves without worrying too much about others  judgement, that will always be there in any case, we must learn not limit our potential but instead to listen to our heart and let us be guided by it. This flamboyant colourful arrangement recalls the smooth and charming curved shapes of the Art Noveau mode, which was properly inspired by natural structures; in some ways, it may also be visually associated with the style of Georgina O´Keeffe for the fluidness and softness that its brilliant  colour palette do transmit, vibrant notes instilling vitally and energy to the composition.  Using colour in the expressionist manner, Cristina Maya Caetano features all the coloristic range of the rainbow including all the nuances of the human soul, that here appear to be like shaken by the wind of freedom. This painting invites us to release ourselves from the insecurities we have regarding our person by giving us positivity and spiritual calm and putting us in touch with our deeper self. It kind of leads us to an internal purification and showing us the beauty of our soul and of the outside world, here representing by the symbol of flowers, it helps us to better appreciate life and the surrounding reality”. (Opinion about Cristina painting “Free in Being”).

October 2017

ELMADANI BELMADANI – CURATOR AND PLASTIC ARTIST. (MAROCCO).

“Cristina is a Portuguese artist her style is abstract, is trying to express with colors often limited to three choices which gives a color appearance close to each other to provide a rich and bright range. Cristina tries to show us some abstract paintings with brushstrokes slight, colors mingle on the canvas in order to give a little light of her dark backgrounds, this illusion of colors lets us a look for what she wants to express emotions and joys with a poetic way”. (in the Art Book “World Masters Of Contemporary Art – Taza Biennials since 2014” – page 54)

October  2017

CHIARA BURDO – ART CURATOR.  M.A.D. GALLERY. (MILAN, ITALY).

“Two flamingos are those who stand in front of the entrance of that secret depth of nature, as they were security guards, always read to defend it. Flowers are what there are on the other side of that opening spot, symbol of life, producing pollen important for the ecosystem fundamental for feeding bees, they are like mothers that every day look after their babies. It is a clear scream to come back to the origin, where all it is planned and well protect thanks to the order of nature, and nothing is left to the chance. A combination of curve lines and bold colours are predominant in this oil painting. A recall to the Art Nouveau when Artists drew inspiration from both organic and geometric forms, evolving elegant designs that united flowing, natural forms resembling the stems and blossoms of plants. When industrial production was, at that point widespread, and yet the decorative arts were increasingly dominated by poorly-made objects imitating earlier periods. A scream of help to abandon a mass society and products, where everything is the same for everyone. A cry for art, to re-establish a world of creative minds, to the diverse; expressed by the use of bold colours quoting the artist Edvard Munch, a perfect connection between Art Nouveau and Expressionism with his use of biomorphic lines and wild and contrasting hues”. (opinion about Cristina painting “Windows of Ascension”).

October 2017

FLAVIO DE GREGORIO – ACCADEMIA SANTA SARA. (ALEXANDRIA, ITALY).

“The painter Cristina Maya Caetano in 2017 was awarded by the Academy of Santa Sara in Alexandria (Italy) and mentioned in the golden book of Academy of Santa Sara. Premio Cittadella 2017. “Lively signs and happy colors make part of  the painting created by the Portuguese painter Cristina Maya Caetano. The poetic dictation of her conscience, always tends to move cognitively in the visually intimate world, from whose responses the scenic attention is drawn to the objective peculiarities of fauna. It is a beautiful and cool painting in one chromatic purity, defined in the tone by an intense poetic vocation, which reinforces the sense of life, predisposing the evocative world into a picturesque theatricality conforming to the palpitating and reactive communicative power of the painter”.  (in Catalog “Premio Cittadella”- accademia Santa Clara. Page 8). Inglese translation of the original.

September 2017

DINO MARASÁ – INTERNATIONAL ART CRITIC, STUDIO BYBLOS. (PALERMO, ITALY).
“Christina is a real, valid, wonderful artist which suggests emotion and poetry”.

17 – 06-2017

PAOLO LEVI – INTERNATINAL ART CRITIC, DIRECTOR OF EA (ITALY).

“Communicative ability that overcomes visual and life boundaries to the harmonious creations of universal messaging, An art that reveals the creativity of the artist and the intimate impulses of her soul”.  Inglese translation of the original.

Palermo, March 2017

ELENA GOLLINI – INTERNATINAL ART CRITI AND JOURNALIST. (ITALY).

New York, March 2017

CRISTINA MADINI – FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ROSSOCINABRO GALLERY. (ROME, ITALY).

“I have seen and I liked your works by visiting website. I invite you to consider the opportunity to exhibit in RossoCinabro gallery in Rome, some work in residence for several months”.

February 2017

CARLOTTA BIFFI – ART CURATOR, M.A.D. GALLERY. (MILAN, ITALY).

“A stormy whirl of strong colours breakes in the canvas, purposely taking possession of the composition and, at the same time, establishing a new order of space. The colour, in its bare and naked form, seems to be the leading actor of an happening taking place just in front of our eyes. It spreads and it becomes clotted, it flutters in air and it anchors to the ground, it dance in space and it shuts itself up; in the end, from the vibrant stream of colour rises up the form. Wavering between Formalism and Abstract painting, Cristina Maya Caetano introduces us into a spiritual way to approach colour, which she uses in order to realize a deep, joyful, highly meaningful image. The same title “Embrace your inner beauty”, offer us a sense of steady optimism, enriched by the traditional symbols of beauty handed down by the Western culture; the peacock, the rose and the butterfly, and yet, as soon as we come aware of their presence, colour is already dissolving them into a never-ending whirl, as the silent master of a world taking place just behind the canvas surface”.

January 2017

FRANCISCO TORRALBA  – INTERNATION ART CRITIC, ESPACIO 120. (BARCELONA, SPAIN).

“I have known your work recently and it is of high quality and artistic creativity”.

January 2017

SANDRO SERRADIFALCO – PUBLISHER DIRECTOR EA. (ITALY).

Florence, November 2016

SALVATORE RUSSO – INTERNATIONAL ART CRITIC. (ITALY).

“Chromatic twists make every work of Cristina Maya Caetano a veritable magical garden. in the works of the artist dominates the color which takes the form of a large rainbow, that aims to make the life of man a real achievable dream” (about cristina’s painting “The brightness of new age”, in Art Book, “The Best Modern and Contemporary Artists 2016”,  157 page).

Vienna, November 2016

November 2016

MAD GALLERY TEAM. (ITALY).

“Cristina with her artwork “Superação Da Mente” creates a multi-sensory experience, where the colours flows like flames and define the features of faces. The expressiveness of tones and the neatness of forms increase the spirituality of composition arousing an ancestral and familiar sense of unnatural which seems to be buried in own mind”.

October 2016

DINO MARASÁ – INTERNATIONAL ART CRITIC, in ART BOOK POLYCROMIA, STUDIO BYBLOS. (PALERMO, ITALY).

“Cristina Maya Caetano is a painter that stimulates those who come into contact with her paintings which are unique and sometimes conflicting emotions. She is equipped with a strong personality, the Portuguese artist is sober and of great refinement, and she can convey effectively the various shades of color. And if the spirals with which transfigures her inner world express a subtle metaphor of human life, some special tensions are also from her figurative subjects that emerge from the chromatic magma”.

October 2016

MAD GALLERY TEAM. (ITALY).

“Cristina is a portoguese artist that gives us colorful artworks with sinuous lines that bring us in a colorful nature”

September 2016

September 1, 2016

VIRGINIA ANGIUS –  ART CURATOR.  M.A.D. GALLERY. (MILAN, ITALY).

“Portuguese artist Cristina Maya Caetano means eclecticism, not only because of her ability in combining surrealistic contents and psychedelic painting technique, that we observe in her oil painting, but because of her multiple sources of inspiration and expression, mainly coming from nature, human feelings, and her own poetry. Roses of the soul for you perfectly explain her inclusive art: a natural theme is reinvented in a surreal way to be offered to the viewer as a gift, disclosing the importance of the linkage between the artist’s inner soul and its visual expression, through which she is able to offer to any viewer a hint about her dreams and beliefs”.

September 2016

FLAVIO DE GREGORIO –  CRITICO D’ARTE. ACCADEMIA SANTA SARA. (ITALY).

“I am pleased to announce to you that I have seen your artistic work through biography at” YOO ART. I consider the validity of your work of art, both in aesthetic quality and emotional depth”. Inglese translation of the original.

Alessandria, 8 August 2016

EA ART CRITICAL TEAM. (ITALY).

“The creativity of Maya Cristina Caetano finds its natural translation in an abstract painting characterized by vibrant chromaticities, which run into an addictive tonal rhythm. Vivid chromium transmutes the real one, which loses its recognizability in favor of a profound poetic lyrical pervading all his work. Her mark is incisive, highlighting an uninterrupted emotional flow that can carry the observer to the vast spiritual world of the artist”. Inglese translation of the original.

August 2016

August 27, 2016

PAOLO LEVI – INTERNATINAL ART CRITIC, DIRECTOR OF EA. (ITALY).

“The luminosity and the warmth of the South American country live in the works of Maya Cristina Caetano, who stated in their declared expression of bright and vibrant colors, chosen by participants with intimate lyricism to the moods of his land. The artist creates a complex design, constructed of a myriad of sharply contoured color notches, but perfectly harmonized, fragments of space that can accommodate the color with its vitality, spread with a grace, capable of generating a dual effect of intensity and transparency which recalls the Art Nouveau glass windows. They are windows on the soul, emotional mosaics that combine tradition and modernity, landing in a deliberately perspectival compositional solution, and immediate visual impact. The intricate maze of signs conveys a vague sense of estrangement and silent suspension, waiting to unspecified events”. Inglese translation of the original.

Palermo, July 2016

“Sensitive interpreter of the world, capable of capturing every symbolic visual emotion through works that reveal a spontaneous creativity and an intense artistic investigation. An art that brings back the most deeper feelings of the soul”. Inglese translation of the original.

“Cristina Maya Caetano organizes a pictorial warp, using generous strokes of color that are signs themselves. “Being Free”, the aspiration to become free, it is not just the title of this work, but also it is the central theme of the painting exhibition. Freedom means a willingness to break the mold and the constraints imposed by the past and by the social environment in which one is born and lives. Breaking the “bars of the cage of the mind” , this is instead the message underlying this narrative fantastic and allusive painting. A strong smile welcomes the longed freedom, which is masterfully rendered as a metaphor from a fantasy world that is color, flower, music, woman with auburn hair and fairytale animal”.

SALVATORE RUSSO – INTERNATIONAL ART CRITIC. (ITALY).

“Cristina Maya Caetano comes to draw up her own linguist writing. Her own alphabet of signs with which to express the complexity of its contents. At the center of each representation is placed survey intended to reveal what is hidden. Her composition is full of sign which cover the pictorial space as the weave a patch-work, recomposing itself in the consistent elaboration of a figural narration often enigmatic. Caetano is expressing through a new visual language. Her works describe inner landscapes, strong emotional upheavals that the artist shares with the observer. Through this great complexity of thought, Cristina redefines he concept of sign in personal key, generating some real visual masterpieces.  The linguist plot of Caetano is very complex. A story that accompanies the observer in his long journey. A journey that leads him to know fantastic stories. Stories to listen in silence and with great attention”. AUGUSTO SANTOS – SPECIALIST ART. (PORTUGAL).

“The World of Maya, the world of imagination, the imaginary tales of dreams, a new world. It is observed intensity in the works, but an intensity revealed gently in the color combination in its color palette of waveforms that transmit us the imaginary. The traces show the base something “Naif” in the sense of being free, not being bound by rules or conventions of art, Which is great as it is creative, is new, is fresh. The paintings convey us this way so an imaginary world, as a child, where freedom of colors and forms in the free our thoughts. An artist to follow, very good, very fresh”.

SALVATORE RUSSO – INTERNATIONAL ART CRITIC. (ITALY).

“Cristina Maya Caetano: – The Queen of Eden

The art of Cristina Maya Caetano is divided into three strands: illustrations, oil on canvas and “Little Fairy Lotus”, or a series made by the artist using a mixed technique, together with the oil on canvas. The worlds narrated by Maya, are an enchanted land. Hers, is a painting that I would say it belongs to the genre of fables. Fairytales come to life in the enchanting world of Caetano. A world in which we find birds, live in the heavenly Paradise. Her illustrations are born from the same writings that the artist processes. The great skill of Cristina Maya Caetano is that she has been able to create her own alphabet, composed of form and color, with which she expresses her most intimate thoughts. Those who are close to these works are struck by an eternal light; a light that approaches to the divine salvation. The Portuguese artist specializes in her painting, in stories for children and fairy tales. The fairy tales are stained with the magical colors. The artist, through her poetic romantic, recounts the most wonderful stories that can ever be told. The oil paintings, on the other hand, are made on the basis of her poems. With great stylistic elegance, Maya, achieves the perfect sonnet. A sonnet consisting of 14 verses, two quatrains and two tercets, which make every visual poetry, a true harmony. The compositions of oil on canvas of the artist have the stylistic elegance of a ballet of modern dance and the majestic elegance of a piece of classical music. The artist vanquishes the shadows of the darkness, and goes in search of the light. Each of her works is a concrete example, of the victory of good against evil. The armies of good fight their eternal battle against the monsters of the psyche, and it always emerge winners. Of great critical interest, is the loaf, which the artist dedicates to the series “Little Fairy Lotus”.  A small fairy lives in the lotus flower, always the subject of mystery. The lotus flower is often depicted as a flower of gold with thousand petals, and is the symbol of feminine grace and fertility. The Egyptian lotus flower is often represented in architectural elements of that people. Isis wore it on her sceptre to represent the fertility of the Nile River. This loaf, dedicated to the Fairy of the lotus flower, is born from environments that range from Africa and India, and are completed through images of flowers, butterflies, and elephants. In the painting of Cristina Maya Caetano, dominates the magic. A magic that inundates the canvas and makes each story: fantastic. I can say with certainty that Maya, is the true Queen of Eden: the kingdom of fairy tales in which dreams come really true. The observer that sees its beautiful compositions cannot but remain fascinated. Her stories on canvas are the most authentic testimony of the beauty of life. A life that despite the evils and injustices of man, continues to slide incessant. A life that has in Cristina Maya Caetano it’s the true little fairy lotus. A little fairy, which, thanks to its magical brushstrokes, restores to the world, a new look. An aspect that heavily looks like a colored rainbow”.
